It sets off a chain of events that causes the body count to mount and sends Levy along with Jackie Lean the widow of his best friend on a world wide chase for self preservation and a search for answers. From the USA to Europe and then Asia every cry for help leads to betrayal. In the end Levy realises that the answer is back home where it all began. He must return to the USA to solve the puzzle. There, in a terrifying climax he fights for his life in a final effort to overcome The Catalytic Programme. Can David Levy live long enough to save himself, Jackie and the Free World's Economy?
Jackie came out of the ladies restroom and saw that David had gone, at the last moment she spotted him in the driving seat of another car, a man was in the back. For a moment she panicked then spotted the GTO keys on the table where David had left them. She ran out of the diner and quickly into the GTO and pulled out behind the brown Ford.
“You have been one pain in the neck Levy. It’s going to give me great pleasure dispatching you, you know that.”
“Who the hell are you anyway?” Levy questioned.
“The grim fucking reaper as far as your concerned, just drive Levy.”
“Whoever you are it’s all over. I’ve already told the President all about The Catalytic Programme, it’s over. So what’s the point in killing me?”
“I hope you’re not going to start pleading with me Levy, can’t stand an hombre who won’t take it like a man. I thought you were some big shot in a special-forces unit in Nam, you gone soft?”
“I wouldn’t give you the satisfaction.”
Levy spotted the GTO in the rear view mirror.”
“So are you a CEMЯ?”
“Fucking right and proud of it, second generation.”
“Have you achieved much?”
“Loads, the original CEMЯ didn’t do much, not enough education and too old to get far, but us kids, we are the fucking business. We are world wide.”
Up ahead the traffic was stalled, a minor collision had caused a tailback of six or seven cars. A police cruiser with red and blues flashing was on the opposite side of the road sorting out the problem.
“Just slow down and stop Levy, nothing funny, understand or I will shoot you where you sit. I am CIA so I can do what the fuck I like, got it.”
In the GTO Jackie saw the tailback.
“Sorry Zak, I really really am but a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do.”
She quickly clipped on the seat belt and then floored the gas pedal setting the rear wheels of the GTO spinning, smoke billowed and the tyres screamed in torture. The deep throated roar of the V8 bellowed. The GTO shot forward and Jackie braced herself for the impact.
The police officer heard the noise and turned. “What the?”
Levy spotted the black car flying towards them and put his head back against the neck restraint waiting for the impact.
The GTO was doing forty miles an hour when it hit the stationary Ford and that catapulted the car into the rear of the pick up truck in front. Mason who had been leaning forward in the rear seat to talk to Levy was violently thrown back into his seat dropping the gun, as soon as the carnage stopped Levy was out of the driver’s door, ripping open the rear door and dragging Mason out of the car. He punched the CIA man with as much force as he could but Mason was tougher than that, a born street fighter, he came back at Levy clawing for his eyes. Levy brought up his knee but failed to connect, Mason swung a punch and caught Levy in the stomach and kicked out, Levy reacted, turning and the kick caught his thigh. He groaned as he felt the stitches in his wound ripping apart. Levy ran forward bundling Mason to the ground.
Jackie, shaken from the impact stumbled from the wrecked GTO watched in horror as the men rolled around on the ground. Just then the police officer arrived he drew his service revolver.
“Stop right there you fellas, stop.”
Mason and Levy separated.
