Travel back in time with a young Hermit Crab named Herman and his many animal and mammal friends!

The first of many adventures that carry this small crab to the ends of the earth and into the depths of space while he learns valuable life's lessons. Excerpt
My name is Herman I have no other name; I'm just Herman the Hermit Crab. I was asked to tell my story today by someone who cares for you, so I think I'll tell you a few things about myself. First, I think I should tell you that I'm not your ordinary little hermit crab. Oh, I have all the same features such as the usual number of legs for a hermit crab and my shell is ordinary enough but, I'm something special.

I can travel back and forth through time and space! I've been on several adventures: traveling with Lewis and Clark to the mouth of the Columbia River; walking on the moon with Neil Armstrong; helping to build the pyramids in Egypt, and getting lost with Stanley and Livingston in Africa. I've enjoyed all of my little adventures. I want to tell you how my adventures began because only through the telling of my story, and the faith of children, will I live forever.

Reader Reviews for "Herman the Hermit Crab & Friends"

Reviewed by Mr. Ed 10/6/2003
Oral storytelling is an ancient Native American art form. Jacqueline Anastasia (Claywoman) has taken pen to paper and transformed one of her grandchildren's favorite stories about an adventurous young hermit crab into a marvelous children's read-along storybook. The illustrations in this book are wonderful, also.

Herman's tale not only teaches children that it is OK to be different, it also teaches them to respect all life forms on this planet - both great and small. I highly recommend it!

Herman seems to be a great catalyst for all sorts of adventures. I like your down to earth description of the nature of your main character and his friends. This seems to be targeting a more mature reader, however, it surely makes for good discussion material between adult and child, something I wish to acheive in my own writing.
