DESIRE CAN BE DEADLY

When college professor Abby Youngblood returns to Abundance, New York, all she wants is to escape the pain of the past few months. But the peaceful upstate village is not what she remembers, and neither is her aunt's estate, crumbling from years of neglect. Even more disturbing is the carriage house's new tenant, an unruly, unpredictable, and undeniably attractive author named Matthew Monroe.

Enticed by his intoxicating sensuality, Abby knows that Matt is dangerous to her battered spirit, and to her vulnerable heart. She never suspects he could also be dangerous to her life, until a young woman seen in his company is found strangled to death.

Though Abby desperately wants to believe Matt is innocent, his need to hide his past suddenly raises frightening questions. Searching for the truth, Abby is drawn into the mystery surrounding him, unaware that someone is watching her... wanting her... waiting to relive his twisted fantasy of death--with Abby as his next victim.

Romantic Suspense

Abundance, New York, Present Day

Dr. Abigail Youngblood has come home to Abundance, New York. The sleepy town in the Catskills is just what she needs after the scandal surrounding her husband's suicide. Abby hopes that with a little peace and quiet she'll be able to start putting her life back together. But she quickly finds out that both have been lacking at her aunt's home...ever since Aunt Catherine rented the carriage house to Matthew Monroe.

Matt is an author as well known for his novels as he is for his wild lifestyle. Haunted by the murder of his fiancée, he hasn't cared much about anything in four years. But now that he's met Abby, that's about to change. He was sent by his agent to Abundance to work on his latest mystery, and now a real mystery has hit the town. The body of a young woman who has been missing for ten years is found on Catherine's property. When another young woman dies, the evidence starts to point toward Matt. He knows that he'll have to find out the truth, not only to clear himself, but also to stop the killer from going after his next victim... Abby.

AS NIGHT FALLS is an engaging story of love and suspense. The mystery was well written, with almost everyone in town being suspect. Adding color to the story are several secondary characters, including the sheriff, who, while not inept, is definitely out of his league and hoping to pin the murders on Matt. The sheriff has his own interest in Abby. The deputy's prejudice against outsiders also casts suspicion on Matt, but because of their motives, Abby finds it easier to trust Matt. Neither is quite ready to get involved with someone else, yet even when their romance stumbles, the tension between them is fantastic. For a book that's truly hard to put down, I would highly recommend AS NIGHT FALLS.
