Over the past decade, scientists have discovered a myriad of ways in which vitamin D3, a nutrient/hormone primarily absorbed from exposure to sunlight, helps stave off dozens of diseases while boosting the immune system and improving overall health.
In the short time since acclaimed nurse practitioner and health columnist Pamela Egan first reported on the scientific breakthrough involving the discovery that vitamin D2 has little-to-no discernable impact on human health, while its natural counterpart D3 is arguably the most important substance in the history of mankind in terms of its effects on human health, millions of articles have been written on the topic and supplement makers have nearly unanimously adopted D3 for inclusion in their products.
Vtamin D2 is a synthetic plant-based form of vitamin D that at one-time was the standard for inclusion in dietary supplements. However, following N.P. Egan's groundbreaking article on vitamin D3 that was originally published in print in 2005 and on the web a short time later, the health science and medical communities experienced a Rennaissance of sorts involving the collective understanding of the "Sunshin Vitamin" and its profound impact on human health.
Mrs. Egan's article helped jumpstart this movement, which has since seen thousands of new studies involving vitamin D3. The studies have conclusively linked insufficient blood-levels of the fat-solugle hormone mistakenly reffered to as a vitamin to roughly 40 different diseases, conditions and other health maladies, and the list is still growing.
This book details the most notable of the studies specific to each illness or disease associated with the relatively new diagnosis known as Vitamin D Deficiency of those that were published prior to the time of the book's publishing.
Excerpt
Arguably the single greatest flaw of Western medicine is its reactionary nature, with the main emphasis lying in the diagnosis and treatment of symptoms after they began to appear. Recent science has shown that at least 40 of today's most prevalent and debilitating diseases are either caused in part by insufficient levels of a hormone/vitamin obtained from sun exposure, and/or that may be preventable through supplementation of this nutrient, for which the majority of the American, Canadian and European populations are deficient according to researchers. Based on reports published at the Vitamin D3 Blog and N.P. Egan's official website.
