Excerpt
If you pray for the truth, you have to make darn sure you're prepared to accept it and its consequences. For me, it took time for the truth to reveal itself, but it was also at the appropriate time for me to process it.
God has also shown me on more than one occasion that he does in fact exist and is with us. While driving home on a country road one sunny winter's day and while praying the Ave Maria, it took me by total surprise to witness the sun spinning in the sky. Amazed and bewildered, I had to pull over to the side of the road to watch this miracle of the sun.
Many evenings, I would go outside in the backyard and contemplate the wonder of God while looking up at the night sky. Seeing the northern lights from my deck one night may not count as a miracle, but it was incredible that no one else in that town had mentioned them, including the local astronomical society. I lived there for over forty years and it was the first time I had seen them. It was amazing: the sky was like a tasteful discotheque with lights shimmering and dancing in shades of green.
While praying to Jesus in my backyard one starry night, I saw a shooting star racing across the sky, and then traveled dead centre through the big dipper.
While standing up in St. Paul's Catholic Church I felt a strong tug on my coat. So strong was the pull that If I did not resist it, I would have been dragged to my seat. At first I thought someone was playing a prank, but when I looked around, to my astonishment, there was nobody in the pews for three rows back. No one to my right, and my wife was on my left about two feet away with my son, who was just a few months old and was lying on the seat to her left. Amazingly, even after ruling out the possibility that someone in the church could be doing it, and while watching my wife, the tugging persisted! Events like these and many others have shown me that God is with me.
