Visiting San Francisco from China, the dragon tries to learn to play the trumpet with disastorous results.

Barnes & Noble.com

With illustrations by emerging artist, Samantha Cerney, the dragon realizes his ambition to be in a band.  Just  how he accomplishes the feat gives the reader the importance of goals.

Excerpt

The dragon learns to read and decides he wants to play the trumpet. After learning to play the scales, he runs into problems with excitement when he plays a tune. Destroying the instruments leaves the dragon depressed. The solution to the problem can be observed at any Chinese celebration that features a band.

Professional Reviews

The Musical Dragon
Richard Oldenburg uses a clever approach to teaching children to give 100% of their capabilities by searching for a solution to any problem instead of giving up when they hit a roadblock. Doris Bermender

Outstanding
The Musical Dragon is a must read for children of all ages. It is an inspiring story! The illustrations are fun, bright and beautiful! S. Janzen
