This book is a compilation of stories based on some of my cases I have worked. I am a Forensic Scientist and thought poeple may be interested in reading about what really happens in forensics.

"Lasting Impressions" will be released very soon. It is a compilation of true stories based on some of my work experience. Each chapter is broken into its own case, so it is like several short stories that stand on their own. The book is a short read, but an interesting one. My proofreaders have commented on how easy it is to read and how the stories are told as if I am sitting across the table, telling each story. The stories are in common language and not in scientific terms, so anyone can pick it up and enjoy reading it. The names and many of the details have been altered to protect the victims, their families and even the defendants' families. The actual crime lab work is the central focus of the book to give the reader an insight of real forensics, not like some of the television versions of forensics. I hope you will take the time to read my book, "Lasting Impressions" when it comes out in a couple of weeks.

"Bella and I were called in to attempt to record what was left of the victim’s finger print. When we arrived at the morgue, the smell of decomposition was thick in the summer air, even out in the parking lot. The smell only got worse as we continued toward the body. The smell of a decomposing body is something you never forget. Once you smell it, it stays in your mind. We have all smelled dead animals along the roadsides and can vouch for the stench. The animal stench is nothing compared to the smell of a decaying human body. This was my first case involving a floater. I wasn’t sure I would be able to handle the sight or smell of it, but I had no choice. This victim was my new boss. I worked for him now and could not let anything get in the way of what I had to do. I had to put everything out of my mind but trying to become his voice. We were only able to record a half of one of his fingers on a post mortem finger print card. A half of a finger print does not seem like that much to work with. But, in the world of a latent print examiner, it is often more than we are used to working with."
