A moving story of seven women who bond through their narcissistic personal trainer, Stella Kennedy, who's mid-life crisis is playing out before their eyes. In a town where wealth is flaunted, these self proclaimed "Gem Rats" must learn to deal with tenuous friendships, betrayal, love, and self discovery in their own way, as life’s challenges present themselves to each of the women differently.
REVIEW: "Lisa Loomis has written a wonderfully entertaining contemporary fiction novel for and about women. Full of gossip, real life situations, and entertaining situations, this book will not disappoint. I must say, this is my favorite Lisa Loomis so far and I can't wait for the next one.
ďListen, hindsight is easy and you canít change the past. Move forward, hang on to your resolve and figure it out. I will talk to Martin this afternoon, but plan on it. If he has anyone coming that Iím not aware of, they can stay in the main house.Ē
ďThanks, Rachel, Iíll wait to hear from you and then Iíll help you with the get-together. Not that you need it of course, but I would love to help,Ē Toni said.
Rachel hung up the phone. Her feelings were no longer black and white like they had been at other times in her life. With Mark and then with Jay, she thought she knew exactly what she wanted. When she didnít get it, she moved on. Moving on however, created its own set of problems. She realized now that it took more than just getting what she wanted. Marriage wasnít easy and if either party quit working at it, game over. So many times people didnít even realize they had stepped out of the court and walked away without even trying to finish the game.
Rachel didnít think Toni was wrong in her decision, she thought she should have forced her hand years ago. In allowing Larry to do nothing for so long he figured doing nothing was alright. She wondered how well Toni would be able to follow through with her actions.
She also realized her party had just gotten more interesting.
