Immerse yourself in the most different take on the subject of vampires ever written.  Young seaman Ian McCloud is unwittingly drawn into the strange world of vampires.  Set in the stormy politics of 18th-century Europe, this novel takes you from fighting pirates on the high seas to the intricately deceptive world of vampires.  As they hide in plain sight, Master Adept vampires exert a shadowy control on well-placed human officials within the governments of Europe.

Ian has met and fallen in love with both a young human woman and a young vampire woman.  Maintaining balance in a life which has been turned upside down by his unknowing intrusion into their shadowy world proves to be a great struggle.  His life becomes one of romantic interludes and warm friendships punctuated by both eye-popping mortal combat and unimaginably sorrowful events.  The certain knowledge that his friends and family are best kept isolated from what he knows creates both an inner turmoil and a burden that he doesn't dare to lay down.  Always a threat is the dreaded Supreme Council who have one rule to enforce:  No human is ever to know of the existence of vampires or speak of it.

Join him as he experiences hiar-raising life or death battles against enemies both human and superhuman.  Savor his joy as he finds true love.  Experience his emotional conflict as he realizes both the great joy and the extreme sorrow of the life that he has been thrust into by fate.  Ian McCloud boldly cuts a wide swath wherever he goes as he forges ahead in his sometimes uncertain world.  Find adventure, unexpected humor, tenderness, violent fighting and surprises hidden everywhere in this story.  You will love the ending.  You have never read a novel that explres the subject of vampires as does Forever Young The Beginning.

Excerpt

...Suddenly he was awake, and saw that he was in an opulent room, lavishly furnished. A large window was open and it was morning. Birds sat singing in a large tree outside. He peered about and saw the woman who had brought him there. She sat stone-still, looking at him with the most beautiful and exquisite gray eyes. They were wide-set and like he remembered, she had a creamy complexion with a hint of pinkness in her cheeks. Her lips were a delicate shade of pink, curving sensually in a very slight pout. Her hair was a light shade of honey, wavy with golden highlights, and hung gracefully framing her beautiful face. Polished ivory would best describe her skin, with a glow about it if that was possible.
He croaked "Did you really...bring me here?"
"Yes."
"What happened?"
"You were attacked.".............
....."How did you bring me here?" I thought we were flying...I must have been out of my mind...that beast bit me."
She laughed then, a husky laugh with an exotic musical quality. "You were weak, but not out of your mind, Ian."
"You...really...carried...me here, Cosette?"
"Yes."
"How did you do that? I mean where we are now?"
"It is easy for us, Ian. We are some thirty-five miles from where you were attacked."
"But how...you said it is easy for us? Who else helped you? I only remember you, Cosette."
"It is easy for my kind, Ian."
"Your kind, Cosette? What do you mean?"
She sat silent for a moment, her beautiful eyes fixed on his. Finally she said "I am a vampire, Ian."
At that Ian sat as still as Cosette, staring at her. Neither spoke for an interminable time. Ian became conscious of a clock ticking somewhere in the house, and he could hear sounds outside both near and some farther away. Finally he said "There are no such things, Cosette."
"There are, Ian. I am one as is Madame Lafayette. Now you are one too, mon ami."

Professional Reviews

Forever Young The Beginning...
I absolutely could not put this book down. My wife saw little of me for the couple of days it took me to devour this incredible story. (or should I better say, credible) Little did she know, I had gone to mid-18th century Europe for that period of time. If the next book was out now I would be reading it instead of writing this review. Mr Simpkins, please get to the next one at your earliest convenience.
I am left in wonder as to whether or not it actually is a novel or a biography, disguised as a novel....and Mr Simpkins, just how old are you really?
