In writing this review of Bob Choat's book, Mind Your Own Fitness, I realized that it was impossible for me to do so without incorporating my personal experience with Bob as my fitness trainer/coach over the past months. A major portion of the information and techniques spelled out in the book are the very same that Coach Bob utilizes in his training sessions with me. In that respect, reading Mind Your Own Fitness is a point of reference for me reinforcing the things I've learned.
One of the many things that impressed me most about Coach Bob is how intelligent and what an awesome teacher he is. It's amazing to me how he readily taps into the resources of his mind to discuss such intrinsic matters as neuro-science, epigenetics, etc. Now, I am not a science-minded person and if someone were to bring up the subject of epigenetics with me in the past, I'm sure I would have mentally hit the snooze button. But, not so with Bob Choat. Coach Bob has a true gift of teaching and can easily explain any subject matter in a interesting manner so that you can learn from him.
On a fitness level, Coach Bob has again proven to be the best. His expertise goes well beyond that of physical workouts. Coach Bob does have a "mental toolbox" and meets you wherever you're at on your journey and takes you through to success. After working with Coach Bob for six months, I can honestly say that I have never felt better in my life. I am a Baby-Boomer and people might say that you can't reach peak physical fitness after a certain age, but I've learned that is just an excuse. I have gone off blood pressure and statin medications after three months of training.
Through Bob's tutelage, I've gained an attitude of hope, determination, and self-confidence to reach the goals I have set forth for myself to live a healthy and fit life. I am not, and will not ever be the same person that started some months ago.
I could go on, but it's all in the book. My experience and comments are only evidence that what you get in Mind Your Own Fitness is quality information that will help you if you are serious about creating a healthy mindset, body and lifestyle for yourself.
