It's easy to find instructions for using herbs that say things like "use a standard infusion" or "make a poultice", but most don't say exactly how to make them. Home Remedies and How to Make Them fills that gap.

Not just making the remedies, but collecting, preserving and storing the herbs you need to make them are covered in this book. For the remedies themselves, quantities and methods are outlined with an emphasis on clarity and ease of use.

If you're lookiing to reduce your reliance on expensive pharmaceuticals, whether for economical or survival reasons, this book is for you.

Excerpt

Herbal medicine was once the province of hippies and other types who were either ignored or ridiculed by mainstream society. Today the well publicized disasters in the orthodox medical scene (from Thalidomide right through to the horrendous results of recent drugs testing) have forced a second, more thoughtful look.

Natural herbal remedies have been used for many, many years – too far back for anyone to know for sure when the first wise woman prescribed mint tea for stomach ache or chamomile for a throbbing head. These little snippets of knowledge were once passed down from mother to daughter, just part of the craft of running a home.

As the years passed, and men took the role of healer for themselves, the traditional herbal remedies were derided as old wives' tales. Luckily, from records and publications such as Culpeper's Herbal, and through careful preservation and research since, the lore of natural healing has not been lost.

Professional Reviews

Great Information
In this well-written book you'll find sound advice about home remedies. I especially like the straight forward approach to Ms. Leach's subject and the organization of the book. Before reading I didn't know a lot about this subject, but with the author's help I feel as if I have a cornicopia of information.

I hope the 21st Century is Paying Attention
I downloaded this and support the author because they're sincere, and a really helpful guide for anyone out that who may be falling victim to both the economic collapse, and the faltering health care system in the western world. For a lot of us, it's going to be about returning to our roots. We didn't make it through countless generations on pharmaceuticals, no, it was through the practice and execution of the things you'll discover and learn about in this ebook. From gardening, to herb identification, and medicinal use, this is a glimpse into what being a human really meant for tens of thousands of years. Nothing but the best for the author. Don't stop here, get another one out, on another aspect, soon!

Good Starter Guide
Frann Leach is very knowledgeable about the collection and preparation of herbs. This short detailed guide is an excellent resource for the beginner who needs step by step instructions. The photos were helpful, also. I would like to know more about which herbs are used for what conditions. I look forward to the next volume.
