World of Walker

The battle at the Scorched Plains is over and the people of Teleria can finally begin the long process of healing. Life at Lore's Haven is slowly beginning to return to normal. Jason Bennett is just glad that his part in Taleth's prophecy is finally over...

...or so he thinks.

Unbeknownst to Jason and the Circle, the godlike Altered, led by Regor the Shadow Lord, have other plans. After a millennia of being considered nothing more than myth and legend by most of the inhabitants, the Altered have decided to set aside the Covenant and reclaim their place as rulers of Teleria. Nor has the Shadow Lord forgotten his encounter with Jason on the Scorched Plains. But now, with the Altered in agreement about the future of Teleria, Regor has a free hand to do as he pleases without interference.
Once again, Jason finds his life at risk as he and the Loremasters try to figure out how to defeat the most powerful beings on the planet. But as he tries to avoid being found by Regor, Jason will learn things that will have him questioning the actions of the Circle, Nyala, and even Lenai.
He is determined to find the answers....if he can just live long enough.

Professional Reviews

The world of Teleria swims with vibrant colors and life
I have been eagerly anticipating my return Teleria since reading Mr. Walker's first book, "From a Far Land". Again, this new author does not disappoint. The world of Teleria swims with vibrant colors and life, and its inhabitants are brilliantly portrayed. In this second chapter of "Jaben's Rift", chaos reigns as control of Teleria is wrested from the benevolent Loremasters. Facing treachery and deception from sources known and unknown, the Loremasters and their allies must find a way to restore order and save their world. But not all is as it appears. What secrets are the Loremasters hiding, and could there be another agenda in play?
These questions are yet to be answered. The 3rd installment of Jaben's Rift is due out (hopefully) in late 2013. They say "patience is a virtue", but I will be anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Twists,secrets, and lies, oh my!
In the second book of the Jaben's Rift series, Jason and the friends and enemies from the first book to take on an even bigger challenge than any of then could have predicted.

The battles in this book are much deeper, taking place inside minds and across new territory. Jason gains new allies, discovers things not even The Circle is aware of, fights opponents in ways he thought was impossible, learns truths that change everything, and still manages to be a snarky teenager when the need arises.

This book's tone is bit more mature than the first one, which seems to go hand in hand with the growing experience and maturity if not just Jason, but of all of the characters as they fight for what they believe in.

And be prepared for twists as every chapter reveals another surprise that you won't guess is coming. Just when you think the battle is won...

I thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with the characters I met in the first book, and following them along the paths they take, some separately and some together. It's not a stand alone story, but it isn't meant to be and does a great job of continuing where From a Far Land ends and building upon it.

The only problem now is having to wait for the next book in the series...
