Some skeletons refuse to remain INSIDE the coffin...
Take a stroll down five distinctly darkened passageways leading to the jagged edge of hopelessness, despair, and unimaginable horrors....the likes of which man has rarely seen..
Five chilling shorts tied together by a suspenseful wraparound story that will keep you guessing until the final breathtaking sentence.
Three people in search of the ultimate rush that only true fear can bring congregate inside the dark, mysterious confines of a long-abandoned homestead deep within a desolate, foreboding forest. Inside, they will be regaled with terror tales that include:
DEATH BOARDS THE PEGASUS - In the year 2041, A space vessel is tasked to transport a dangerous new species between colonies for scientific study. The crew soon finds themselves trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a creature who has developed a unique taste for human flesh...
PREY - A man whose family was brutally slaughtered watches haplessly as the killer is freed on a technicality. Months later, he emerges from his shell of self pity a new entity, one willing to stop at nothing to see justice served. But as the souls of the wicked begin to fall beneath the sharp-edge blade of retribution, when exactly does the hunter transform into what he depises most?
THE REVENGE SQUAD - An unlikely team of 'anti-' super-heroes are tasked to retrieve a governor's son from the malevolent force that has taken him hostage. Within the cold stone walls of an isolated, abandoned chemical plant, the battle royal ensues, and the team soon discovers that not all enemies are so easily detected....
RUNNING FOR DAYLIGHT - A spoiled, wealthy professional football player crosses the line between stark reality and terror-filled surrealism when his girlfriend is discovered murdered inside his spacious cabin retreat, and the only logical suspect seems to be himself....
THE CARETAKER - In the not-to-distant future, two free-wheelin' rednecks cruise the highway of the dead in search of cold beer, edible food, and live chicks. What they find instead is a man grimly determined to continue his life's work despite death's rude intrusion. A tale dedicated to the films of George "Night of The Living Dead" Romero.
Before the night is over and the witching hour officially rings in the Eve of All Saints, it will be established for those who survive that everyone has buried skeletons locked away. Some just refuse to remain in the coffin.....

A SCARY RIDE WORTH TAKING
"Skeletal Remains" is an effective hybrid of old EC Comics tales such as 'Tales From The Crypt', and the 70's Rod Serling TV Show 'Night Gallery', blending elements of pyschological horror with scenes of outlandish gore. Best among the tales is the adult comic book thriller, 'The Revenge Squad', while the wraparound story is equally chilling. Fans of old fashioned horror in the O.Henry mode will find much to enjoy here.

This book reminds me of the movie “Creepshow” of a few years back, where several of Stephen King’s short stories were tied together with a running theme. In this case, the tying theme is a severely haunted house that serves as a meeting place for three would-be horror writers, hosted by three very ominous and unsettling dark hooded figures.
There are five different stories presented herein, and each of them is horrific, bloody, and spell-binding. Each is VERY interesting in its own way, and each is different in its thrust. This book is not simply a gore factory, although it is not for the squeamish. The descriptions are fantastic, the characters instantly identifiable, and the tension imminently grabbing.
Mr. Vinson writes with the real world in mind, as he repeatedly immerses you in the frightening world of a varied cast of characters. To those who would complain that its too gory, I would say that even Stephen King said that when given a choice, he’d go for the gore every time. Mr. Vinson’s style is quite reminiscent of King. I have no hesitation recommending this book.

A GREAT READ IF YOU'RE IN THE MOOD FOR A GOOD SCARE IN THE 'NIGHT GALLERY' TRADITION!
THE TALES ARE UNRELENTING IN THEIR DEPICTION OF THE DARK SIDE THAT ALL PEOPLE POSSESS BUT RARELY DISPLAY...... ESPECIALLY FUN WAS 'THE CARETAKER'....AND THE LAST FIVE PAGES!

| A GOOD, SOLID READ. I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE STORY ENTITLED 'RUNNING FOR DAYLIGHTS', A PERFECT STUDY OF TODAY'S MODERN, OVERLY RICH AND OVERINDULGED PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE. I LOVED THE ENDING!!! ANOTHER STORY THAT STOOD OUT WAS 'REVENGE SQUAD'..KIND OF A 'X-MEN' TALE WITH A HARD 'R' RATING. I SAY..THUMBS UP! |

| A hybrid of 'Tales from the Crypt' and old Hammer horror films, at least three of the stories contained within this anthology (to include the tie-in tale) are above average chillers. The rest are nothing more than gore for the sake of gore... not bad for a story night, though... |
