Uplifting and anecdotal in nature, this nondenominational guide teaches people how to have a two-way conversation with God by offering examples of how to listen to His voice and how to respond with real words and sentences. It challenges people to listen to the voice of God in their everyday lives and to understand that they can hold conversations with God on a daily basis.

Outlining a simple, easy-to-learn technique, this book stresses that anyone can listen to God—He doesn't just talk to religious leaders like cardinals, rabbis, and ministers. For those seeking clear, understandable answers or the spiritually curious, this book offers real-world examples of how to have a more personal relationship with God.

Outlining a simple, easy-to-learn technique, this book stresses that anyone can have an actual conversation with God. Imagine what would happen to your life if you could get God to actually answer you!

"If you want to talk to God, here's how to do it now - easily and effortlessly" Mark Victor Hansen, Co-creator, #1 New York Times best-selling series Chicken Soup for the Soul®

“One of the most thought-provoking inspirational books I have ever encountered. Giovanni has contributed a great workable solution.” Jennie S. Bev, a writer and instructional designer based in San Francisco Bay Area and Managing Editor of BookReviewClub.com.

Excerpt

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO CALL GOD ON THE TELEPHONE and have a conversation with Him? I have. In fact, I have dozens of questions that I would like to ask Him on all sorts of topics. I suspect we all would like to have a real conversation with God. Not simply a one-way chat where you talk and He listens, but a real conversation with real words! If God really is God, then it would be a simple thing for Him to answer me in a way that I can clearly understand—words.

For years I have listened to sermons, read books by New Age authors, and asked people questions in hopes of finding a way to actually talk to God. What was I searching for? I wanted God to answer my questions in real, honest-to-goodness English. I wanted to hear actual words that I could understand. I didn’t need or want pictures, Bible verses, or parables that required a master’s degree to interpret. They didn’t help me, and it took much too long to figure them out. I wanted specific answers to my direct questions. There had to be a way to talk to Him directly. If God was really there, I reasoned, and if He really did create everything around us, then it would be a simple thing for him to talk to me and answer a few of my questions—in plain English! Just like a real mother/father who answers their children’s questions. I know that God must be a busy guy, but surely He is the one being in the universe capable of doing more than one thing at a time. So, if God is really there, then why can’t He speak to me in a way that I can understand?

Words.

"If you believe that God can speak to you, and you have no doubts, then you will be able to hear Him", writes author and visionary Katharine C. Giovanni. How to rid yourself of such doubts and converse with God is the subject of her provocative new book, God, is that You?

Using real life examples (including her own), Katharine leads the reader to an understanding that, "God didn't stop speaking to us thousands of years ago, and He didn't just talk to people such as the pope and Mother Teresa". You see, many of us are educated from birth to believe that we are not worthy enough to speak to Him. That's called doubt and if you doubt your worth, you won't hear Him.

God, is that You? teaches us two methods to "hear" God---meditation and writing. Katharine tells us (or is it Katharine?) to empty our minds and focus on turning inside to our soul or spirit. Ask, "God, are you there?". Then write down the first thoughts that come to mind, no matter what they are. Or don't write them down, just listen and remember, whichever is best for you.

In addition to recording God's wisdom for us, Katharine also provides exercises on how to clear your mind, relax and focus, how to remove doubt and how to go within and talk to God. "God can help you discover--and realize--your own dream", writes Katharine C. Giovanni in her new and wonderful book, God, is that You? She should know, Katharine has been chatting with Him since 1996.

In this reviewer's opinion, God, is that you? should be on your must-read list!

This is probably one of the most thought-provoking inspirational books I have ever encountered. I was a bit skeptical when plowing through the first pages, because I didn’t believe that we could actually talk to God.

Talking to God has always been a metaphor to me, but not after I have finished reading Giovanni’s masterpiece. This book literally gave me goosebumps and a relief feeling knowing that there is always Somebody whom I can turn to at anytime.

As I read through chapter by chapter, I was astonished by the logical reasoning and arguments presented that we can all talk to God through the written words and meditation. The author also included examples of how people literally talk to God, including the author’s children and some personal friends. Some transcripts of successful talks with God can be found in Chapter 5: A Few Real Life Examples.

The author further explains how to cultivate our inherent skill to connect directly with God and use it readily into practice. In between the chapters, Giovanni beautifully inserted illuminating quotations by famous people and, who else, God.

All thumbs up for the courage to swim against the flow, I must praise the author. In today’s society where people don’t believe in talking directly to God anymore and the feeling of alienation is as common as the common cold, Giovanni has contributed a great workable solution. I won’t be surprised to find this masterpiece becomes a best-selling book someday.

"God, Is That You?", is an inspirational book that walks the reader through a technique for learning how to talk to and listen to (hear) God's voice. The technique involved two methods so you can use the one that is the most comfortable for you. Several examples of people talking with God are given as she challenges the reader and encourages them to make conversations with God a part of their daily routine. Easy to read, easy to understand and easy to follow, it will provide positive encouragement to many who are struggling to understand what God desires of them.
