The Demon Plague
a novel by Joreid McFate
the past . . . the future -- and no place to hide.
When Crystal Donovan inherits a mysterious amulet dating back to the Salem witch trials her life becomes an exercise in terror.
A brutal murder and an encounter with an inhuman creature are catalysts for the journey of her life--a roller coaster ride through time. Crystal is thrust into a past ruled by superstition, then catapulted into a future devastated by biological weapons . . . and inhabited by demons.
Can she unravel the secret of the amulet? Will she find a way back to her own time?
Or die trying?
. As soon as she left the woods she saw the crow. It rose from its perch on the branch of a hemlock tree, circling as if to draw her attention before gliding to the headstone where she had seen it earlier. Head cocked to one side, the bird waited, dark eyes bright with vigilance as she approached. There was something disconcerting about its eyes. Something very nearly human.
As she passed the stone, the crow fluttered its wings. Crystal stopped, feeling as if some invisible barrier blocked her path. With a sense of dread, she focused on the marker's centuries-old engraving.

Centered beneath the name was a star. A perfect, five-pointed star.
Crystal's hand went to her chest. She clutched the star crystal.
A chill engulfed her entire body.
"I'm still buzzing from the thrill of this read. You hook me tighter with each turn of the page. I haven't thought about anything bad happening in this world since I began reading the prologue."

...mixture of past and future fun
"What a great story. Characters wonderful, three-dimensional, and sympathetic, the plot intricate. The mixture of past and future was really fun."
