My first collection, A Web of Cries, is divided into 3 sections, the 1st dealing with an illness I have battled (and survived!) for 4 years, the 2nd is a mish-mash, and the 3rd a story of childhood.

For two years recently I was unable to read, let alone hold a pen! Being a sufferer of M.E./CFS, this is not uncommon. Then one miraculous day last October I went outside for a wheel and was inspired to write my very first poem practically ever! Since then, verse has literally just been flowing out of me (with some editorial refinement!) and my health has improved drastically. The first section of my book, 'A Web of Cries', is entitled 'Forget-ME-Nots, and it deals specifically with the feelings and experiences of the chronically ill. My intention was to provide a forum of empathy for those who were perhaps too ill or depressed to write, to validate feelings hopefully of some people and to let them know they are never alone.
The second section of my book is a mish-mash of selected topics, entitled 'Politics to Porridge'.
The final section of the collection is entitled 'Talking in Tongues' and deals specifically with the trauma and abuse I suffered both during my childhood and with my family as an adult on the same subject. It is the first chance where my true inner voice on the pain of what I suffered is allowed to speak, and the poems mainly deal with, ironically, the inability of language to communicate!
I hope this collection of poetry will help those who have suffered similar experiences, or simply be of interest or pleasure to poetry lovers.

Forget me not,
She wrote in the sand,
For my body is sailing
To a far-off land.
What I’ll find there
I haven’t a clue -
But my task must be
To search for my spirit,
And return to these shores
My body bound with it.
A map I lack,
So I may lose my track.
If I do, then remember one thing:
I have loved this life
Despite everything.
