The third book of the pirate trilogy: Left with only a note and her medallion, Black assumes command of the Enchantress and plays Alexander’s game of hide and seek—with Mala as the ‘prize’—while, at the same time, Aubrey is given a strong dose of reality in the exciting world of piracy.

The adventure began with RB: The Widow Maker and the adventure continued with RB: The Enchantress. Now the adventure heats up in this third book of the RB Trilogy as Aubrey Malone once again finds herself on board a pirate ship under the command of Captain Rene Black. Yet this time, she is not the same timid young woman he had faced before. Now, she is among friends and, like those on board the Enchantress, has one main concern—finding Captain Mala.

Taunted by the words left in Alexander’s note, ‘How are you in the hunt, my good pirate captain? When you find me, should you find me, Captain, you will find her’, Black has no choice but to play this game of hide and seek—and by Alexander’s rules. Assuming command of the Enchantress and her crew, Black begins his search for Mala. With one disappointment after another, will Black finally tire of the chase and give up the search? Or will some battle at sea cease all hope of ever finding the true captain of the Enchantress?

Excerpt

In the bookstore, Aubrey was so absorbed in the volumes of books that she failed to notice a man watching her. The startling blue eyes looked to Robert leaning against the post outside then turned back to Aubrey. He looked her over from head to toe, pausing on the swell of her breasts over the tight bodice of the dress. His smile was slow and made him look quite handsome. Coming upon a decision, he stepped forward as Aubrey rounded a table nearby.

"Looking for something in particular? Perhaps something like this?" he asked as he picked up a book of love sonnets.

Aubrey looked up at the sound of the voice and found herself face to face with Captain John Alexander. The shock rendered her speechless as she stared at him though he did not seem to recognize her. Well, of course not, she mused. He had only seen her twice and that was as a cabin boy and not as a young woman in a dress.

"This looks like something you would read. It seems to fit you..." Alexander was saying as his eyes roamed over her face and auburn hair, then he finished with, "...and your beauty."

Aubrey returned his smile and replied, "Actually, no. I was looking for something more...ah, practical."

Alexander cocked his head slightly. "More practical? Oh my, I am faced with beauty and intelligence. What a thrilling combination."

Aubrey turned her attention to the table once again and tried to remain calm as she thought of what tactics Mala might use to get rid of this man without spilling blood at this point. She nearly panicked when she heard him ask, "Do I know you?"

"No, sir," Aubrey answered swallowing hard and moving to another table.

"Well, I never forget a beautiful face," he replied still smiling as he followed her. His voice was deep and provocative.

Professional Reviews

Shirley Johnson, reviewer for Midwest Book Review
Finally, I sat down with the final book in this delightful trilogy; I was excited! I have become totally involved with the characters and was delighted to see how Aubrey blossomed into a full fledged woman and a true pirate! I loved the way the authors developed this character, from a meek young girl, into a powerful woman!

The authors do not let you down in this final work, as they take you from adventure to adventure. Battles with other pirates, mutiny and near death for our beloved main characters fill the pages.

Captain Black main quest throughout this work is to find his true love Mala, who has been kidnapped by the notorious British Captain Alexander. More evil than any pirate could be, you only wish for this man to have many life's so he can have them ended time and time again. Although I did smile at his final demise!

I loved the way the authors take you to the Island home of Mala and bring a personal touch into the story, allowing you to meet her father and brothers and hear delightful tales of her younger days. I giggled at the antics of Aubrey as the Chief longed to make her one of his many wifes. I don't think he would have enjoyed the spice and vinegar he would have found she was made of.

You will cringe when Aubrey's uncle Jonathan Hacker comes on the scene and does all in his power to take control of Aubrey and bring to an end the life she has learned to love. Excellent twist of events ladies! And yes, again, I did smile at his final outcome!

I have to admit the only thing I wanted to see happen, which did not, was for Aubrey to realize she loved Morgan. Alright, it's true, Jean Luc truly does love her, but Morgan would have been my choice, had I been Aubrey! What can I say? I thought Morgan was number one from the beginning!

Again readers, there is so much in this wonderful adventure, that I could never bring all of it to light in one short review. However, let me say this, you will not be disappointed in the final episode of this trilogy. It is packed full of love, hate, adventure, mystery and yes, finally deep happiness for the characters we have grown to love.

Great job ladies! Where are we going now? This will be hard to beat!

Reader Reviews for "RB: The Game"

Reviewed by Angelia Sapp 5/3/2003
It was about time that I could finally read the ending to this amazing story. I feel as if I was drawn into each characters lives and they have become some of my closet friends.

It never seized to amaze me the "trouble" they could each get into. This was one of the best books I had read in a good while.

Great Job for the both of you! I can't wait till the next story is unleashed.

This was one of the best books I had read in a long time. It drew out all of my emotions, ranging from sadness to rage, compassion to heartbreak. I felt as if I was in that time period, it brought me in were I could almost smell the sea water.

Wonderful Job! Bravo to the both of you. Looking forward to the next adventure.
