Pandemic Jingle Bells

My daughter Lisa texted me... “I want someone to make a really good covid Christmas song. All these family together songs are depressing.” My first thought was anything about covid is depressing, that’s not a good mix. Then I thought about all the changes in our life due to the 2020 Pandemic and what we experienced in our lives in the last 10 months, so I came up with Pandemic Jingle Bells.

Dashing for your masks, someone’s at the door.

Groceries are delivered, from your closest store.

Toilet paper missing, have to order twice.

Binge watched all of Netflix, my Clorox stock looks nice

Finished all the puzzles, baking pies and bread

Listening to the government, the stupid things they said,

Virus tests false positives, people can’t pay rent,

My favorite monthly restaurant, you’re dining in a tent.

OH, wear your masks, wash your hands, stay away from work,

We just want some real news, no opinions from the jerks.

Facetime and the Zooming, replaces face to face.

If you still ignore the rules, you may leave the human race.

Military flyovers, banging pans and pots

More rules to adhere by, the do’s and the do Nots

Six feet distance ordered, be safe so stay at home

All the Christmas shopping, is now done on your phone.

Cleaned out all the closets, the garage and basement too

Made new masks from t-shirts, vacation way past due

Contact tracing scientists, connecting all the dots

Now the waiting game begins, until you get your shots.

OH, wear your masks, wash your hands, stay away from work,

We just want some real news, no opinions from the jerks.

Facetime and the Zooming, replaces face to face.

If you still ignore the rules, you may leave the human race.
