I put words on paper. I have since my earliest memories. In 1999 I wrote a poem after being told I was unemployable (for life, at 30) after I had gotten myself off the streets. I sent the poem to a magazine and they paid me for it. Since then I've been compelled to try and write myself out of whatever damage I sustained as an addict, I don't use anymore and don't earn any money writing but I will never stop writing. My list of marketable skills is so limited, I call the poetry I write: "comedy." It is how I communicate from the edges of society. It keeps me from taking that final plunge. Todd Moore called my writing, in a book review, "truly marginalized." That was never my goal but if I can write from a truthful place and communicate something, well then my life may not be for shit. I have been a part of every subculture you can imagine. I write from that. I have traveled extensively throughout the united states and mexico. I write from that. And I write for my mentors who have passed on: Joie Cook, Scott Wannberg, Todd Moore, Lenore Kandel, the finest outlaw poets I have ever met, who should never be forgotten, who should always be looked to for inspiration, for the spark when it starts to grow dim. I have sustained a lot of losses in the past two years. I put the pen down because the reality was too much. My energy was at it's lowest point. Now I try to pick it back up again, and even return a few phone calls. my reasons to live and write:  CHARLES BUKOWSKI, S.A. GRIFFIN, R.D. Have published in Down this Crooked Road by Lummox Press, have three books: Who Will Pay the Royalties for the Voices in my Head, Angelflies in My Idiot Soup (out of print), Freaky Mumbler's Manifesto (lulu.com) Have published in numerous zines and in online and print publications.
