I live in South Texas in Wilson County, growing up during the 1930's and 1940's, where there is much history. I grew up here on a farm with 7 brothers and sisters. We were poor and worked hard on the farm, but we had each other and love.

Background Information

I write a column for a local newspaper in Floresville, TX. and have for nearly 15 years. I love history and people. People are so interesting. Everyone has a story to tell. My stories are true stories. Most are full of nostalgia. Growing up on a sandy land farm with seven brothers and sisters during the depression of the '30's and the war years of the '40's was not easy. But there were lots of stories that came out of that. After leaving the country in 1949, I married and lived in big cities like San Antonio and the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex.  In 2007 I  moved back to my roots in Wilson County, Texas.  I love the quiet life and my life has slowed down some.  Reading and writing  is  what calms my soul. I have been an avid reader all of my life. Reading was my salvation and still is. I have written long letters all my life and always search out old lettters to find out about historical things. The Lord is my strength and I lean on Him to guide me through the hard times. I have four children and 10 grandchildren and sevn great-grandchildren. My husband had Alzheimer's and I cared for him at home for many years. He passed away in 2009 in the Texas State Venteran's Home in Floresville, Texas. He was in the Navy in World War II. I stay busy and love to meet people and hear their stories. I guess you could say I am a story teller.
