John is a former Chicago police officer and retired FBI agent. He is an award-winning author who writes both fiction and non-fiction books, short stories and poetry. John has published more than 150 articles relating to police training and officer survival. An avid reader, John also writes book reviews for the New York Journal of Books, and is a member of the National Book Critics Circle. In his spare time he volunteers for the Make-A-Wish foundation, granting wishes to children with life-thratening illnesses.
