While Janet I. Buck has taught writing and literature at the college level for 30+ years, she believes that art must leave the classroom and land in the lap of the real world. What distinguishes her writing from that of others is a double-gavel of laughter and acidic honesty. Candor is the driving force, the sine qua non with every word she pens. her work. Buck's widely celebrated 9/ll poetry and essays were widely celebrated, as she followed the trails of terrorism and subsequent wars. As a writer and thinker, Janet has an itch to climb up cobwebs many writers prefer to brush aside to guard their vulnerability. Writing about Cancer, suffering, and death itself is very hard. However, "Loss is a gift--for it says aloud--Love was here. That's the part that's infinite," she tells someone in an interview. Janet Buck writes with two separate hands: one is shaking ( but coping) with terrors of our human plights; the other holds fingers with recipes for risability & wit. "Writing," she says, "is a tuba in a long parade that chases pain and sorrow to their dissolution. Ink is liquid sanity." When it dries & finds a home in the publishing world, it's Janet's greatest hope that someone, somewhere will have some comfort & a page of coping tools in the back pocket of their jeans.

A seven-time Pushcart Nominee & winner of the The Gival Press Poetry Award, Janet was honored at the United Nations Exhibit Hall in NYC for her disability poetry. For rougly 20 years, she has been a featured writer for various literary journals and her poetry, essays, and fiction have appeared in Pedestal Magazine, Montserrat Review, Of(f)course, CrossConnect, 2River View, Slippery Elm, PoetryMagazine.com, Stirring, The Danforth Review, Runes, Juxtaprose, and hundreds of journals worldwide.
