I grew up on small share crop farms. Worked hard and went to bed hungry. Counted stars through the roof when it wasn't raining. heard the pitty patter on my bed when it was. Joined the Navy at age 21, five ft. seven in. 118 lb. Had a sixth grade elementary school education. Got out after four years, got married, went to school full time by day worked full time at night for two and a half years. Wife, kids and money problems, got sick and had to quit school. I had made a promise that my kids would never go hungry. After eight years I went back in the navy. Retired sixteen years later as a Senior Chief.  Worked at Lockheed Martin for ten years. Restored antique and classic cars until health prevented it. I was putting my bad life behind me until Grandchildren came along. I knew I had to go back into the far recesses of my mind and document my life for them. "NO WAY TO GO BUT UP" is my life, as best I can tell it.
