Information
"Ugly Eliza" started off as a drawing of a substitute teacher I had back in High School. The picture of her cost me a week in after-school detention, and many years later I wanted to use the picture as a character in children's books. I named her "Ugly Eliza".
After my debut book, "Ugly Eliza and the Sunken Ship", I wanted to take a different route with the character, so I created an adult-humor book set up like a children's book. "Ugly Eliza Hits Rock Bottom: A Moral Lesson for Adults Only" uses "Ugly Eliza" as you've never seen her. She loses her job due to the recession and goes to make money any way she can!
