I'm the author of two full-length novels, a novella, and several short stories. For much of my writing I reached back to experiences during my 24 years as a defence attorney in Montreal, although only my first novel, The Guilty, is actually about a murder trial. Topbookreviewers.com called The Guilty an "absolute winner of a debut mystery novel." My second novel is Face/Mask; this time I jump forward 25 years, to look at Montreal and the rest of the world at a time when the environment is becoming toxic, the war on terror rages on without end, and a militaristic government curtails civil rights at will. (Not at all like what is going on around the world today, right?) It's a world where people have to wear masks against the poisonous air, as well as to hide their true selves. Although it's mostly a crime story, it does tend a bit toward the fantastic. (Sort of a mix between The Fugitive and The Twilight Zone.) I was inspired to write this story one day thinking about how real some dreams can be. The thought came to me that if a dream is real enough the people inside it might have lives of their own, and they might sleep and dream as well, only they would dream of "us" in the "real" world. In time, the distinction between who is in the dream and who is real becomes blurred. Among my short stories you can find Out of the Sun, originally published as part of a very creepy anthology called Danse Macabre: Close Encounters With the Grim Reaper, released by Edge Publishing. The stories are written by some great writers (and I managed to get in there too somehow) who take some highly original looks at how we interact with the Grim Reaper.
