Merilyn Renee Williams author & poet: There are those people who just can't seem to stay out of the headlines or in front of the camera for one second, out of fear that they might be quickly forgotten & then there are those whose friendly smile lights up a room & vibrant humbled personality for a talent so sincere people adore her. Merilyn is such an inspiration where ever she is. Merilyn started writing at the age of 12, that is the age she was when she lost her biological mother. It all started with her love for poetry. Her favorite poet is Langston Hughes. She has written many poems her focus now is inspirational/christian poetry. She has been a featured artist on Chicago's Wycc- Channel 20. Merilyn was adopted by her aunt & uncle at the age of 1, raised on Chicago's westside where she still resides. She is the mother of the two daughters ages 8 & 12, a member of Harmony Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James Brooks Jr. Merilyn has written her first book which is a riveting tell of overcoming a hurtful relationship with a man in ministry. A subject many try to stay awy from but it is real and Merilyn's focus is not on the hurt but the overcoming. Which is what she wants her readers to be able to do after reading her story...."When A Man Of God Hurts You" she is working on another book "Ain't No Hurt Like Church Hurt" that will feature stories from both sides of the ministry...the flock and the leaders and their experiences with hurt in the church. When Merilyn isn't writing you can probably find her glued to a television watching her favorite show Law & Order SVU or hanging out with family and friends!
