I grew up in a couple of small towns in Massachusetts, Neighborhoods were safe, and kids played outside until they were called home at dark. We had a small creek out back that I often loved to dip my toes into. I began writing early in life and penned a lot of poetry during my teen years. My writings are born from monumental pain and deep depression that I have experienced. Many of my writings reflect the struggles and pain I have survived. Sadly, my earlier writings during those years were destroyed. My first self-published book, "Pieces of Me" shares pieces of my journey through mental illness and alcohol abuse recovery, giving the reader a glimpse into the struggles I endured. If I reach just one person who is struggling out there, experiencing similar challenges and pain, to let them know they are not alone, then putting this book out there was absolutely worth allowing myself to be so vulnerable.
