I went to college to get into the medical field so I could work with children who were growing up with heart disease like I was.  I didn't do well in my math and science courses, however, and knew I had to pick another field.  I was heartbroken.  But my sister pointed out how much I love writing and said "why don't you do that?" Thanks to her, I switched my goal to writing, and earned my BA in Mass Communications-Journalism. After graduating from college, I started freelance writing for various companies writing web copy.  I loved working from home, and the freedom it gave me to work at my own pace.  I decided to try my hand at writing a book.  After several attempts with both adult and younger children's stories, I finally found my niche writing fantasy stories for young adults. I decided to try this genre after watching a fantasy movie one day (I believe it was "The Seeker").  I realized how much I love fantasy movies and books, such as "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings," and decided to try my hand at writing one.  I picked young adults as my audience because it was the most comfortable voice for me to write in.  I began to discover other YA fantasy authors, such as Rick Riordin, and began to embrace my new genre. It took me three years to write "The Chosen," and I was thrilled when it was published. When it came out in print, and I received my copy, my biggest wish came true: holding MY book in my hands. I'm currently working on more stories in "The Chosen" series.  My wish is that it will be a series kids will read and look forward to the next one coming out.
