My name is Charles Gist I was born in Manila ,AR in July 1951.I moved to Florida when I was in the first grade. I have always been interested in history particularly the civil war. Through this interest and an interest in genealogy I became a civil war reenactor for a few years. Occassionally I would write a poem having to do with that subject.It was not my intention to write a book but several people said I should put the poems together in book form,so I did.It took several hundreds of dollars but I got a hundred copies of the  book made It was called "Sworn To Defend".This was in the days before print on demand so needless to say that was all that was made of that book. There was a short story in that book and it led me into writing my 2nd book entitled "The Other Side Of The River" Which is a fictional story based on the civil war but occuring in the year 2065 when the government has obliterated th fact that the civil war ever occurred and through visits from a ghost from the war a 12 year old boy must prove to the world that it ever occurred.
