She is now a freelance writer and community volunteer.   With a Bachelor degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and a Masters degree from the University of Illinois in Springfield, Roberta taught for over 20 years.  She and her husband Carl have two married children and two granddaughters.  They enjoy traveling and the company of friends and family. Her published works include feature stories on the arts, book reviews, and teacher’s guides.  She has written two books: Susan Lawrence, The Enigma in the Wright House (the biography of the woman who commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design her mansion in Springfield in 1902) and Springfield’s Sculptures, Monuments, and Plaques which Roberta co-authored with her husband Carl.
