Rabbi Solomon Schiff was born amid the tenements of Brooklyn, grew up in the shadow of the Holocaust and, in 1954, stepped onto his first pulpit in Dubuque, Iowa— where a congregant remarked with a grin, “Rabbi, we didn’t know what sin was until you came to town.” From that day forward—and throughout the course of his distinguished 63-year career—Rabbi Solomon Schiff has continued to touch hearts, enrich minds and always provoke laughter. Rabbi Solomon Schiff holds a Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling from the Hebrew Theological College. Currently director emeritus of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation's Chaplaincy Service and the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami, he is the recipient of a Papal Medal from Pope Benedict XVI for outstanding service on behalf of interfaith relations; the Israel Redemption Award from the State of Israel; and the B’nai Avraham Award from the American Jewish Committee. Rabbi Schiff has appeared on 60 Minutes, Nightline and Viewpoint, and in Time, The Forward, and Promise.
