I am now a crime fiction writer in addition to all the non-fiction work, and enjoy telling stories in a very different way
I grew up in New Zealand, took a PhD in Australia working on India, and since then have lived and worked in several different countries.
Living and working in other cultures has broadened my outlook considerably, while my training as an historian taught me to "read" situations and people as well as texts. That background and approach has informed all my writing whether it be on sport, Asia, international affairs or anything else - the ability to "see"from another perspective is critical.
