A novel about a family during World War II, set on the homefront in Springield, Mass., and in the South Pacific. The book focuses on four characters and how their lives were affected and changed during the war years.
Ben Sharpton is a child of the sixties—a Baby Boomer's Boomer. He grew up in a small town in Florida with white and colored water fountains, white and colored bathrooms, and white and colored theaters. In Junior high and high school he experienced both voluntary and enforced desegregation.
He watched the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, Vietnam on the Nightly News, and the first moon landing with its grainy black and white images. Rock and roll music blasted through his eight-track player and bell-bottom jeans hugged his hips. He was one of the last to sign up for the draft, one of the first to pump his own gas, and one of millions who wore his hair longer than his dad liked.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Asbury University and two master’s/with honors degrees:, the first from Wheaton College Graduate School and the second from Rollins College. He has served as a church youth director, a corporate trainer for Fortune 500 companies, and a college professor of business.
