As deafness, illness, and demonic forces close in around him, Ludwig van Beethoven must summon his faith and genius to complete the Missa Solemnis—a sacred masterpiece he believes could bring divine light into a darkening world.
I Made My Boy Out of Poetry is a powerful literary vision of rare scope, beauty and emotional intensity composed of stories and poems that flow in and out of each other like the most lucid and articulate of dreams. These are portraits and studies of
I'm a multi-genre author based in western Montana. My latest novel, Eagle in Flight, is Book 3 of my four-book, semi-autobiographical Jessie Morgan Series.
Eagle in Flight is my fifth published novel.
Background
Information
I live in beautiful western Montana and dream of making a comfortable living as a novelist.
Like my character Jessie Morgan, I lived in 1970s San Francisco, riding the cable cars in raggedy bell-bottom jeans. One time I walked too far barefoot, including all the way across the Golden Gate Bridge, and ended up with tendonitis in one foot.
Before getting to San Francisco, I dropped out of college and wandered America's back roads, working seasonal jobs from Key West, Florida to Polson, Montana.
My experiences inspired me to write my four-book Jessie Morgan Series. These novels are semi-autobiographical, with plenty of pure fiction, embellishment, and wishful thinking.
The latest book in the series is Eagle in Flight: The Jessie Morgan Series, Book 3, which follows Jessie's 1975 adventures in northern British Columbia and Southeast Alaska. Again, like Jessie, I voyaged solo in the mid-70s to the remote, off-the-grid North Country, enduring monster mosquitoes and mind-boggling boat trips on the raging Stikine River.
I grew up in Detroit, Michigan during the 50s and 60s, and give the Catholic school nuns a lot of the credit for my writing and editing abilities. Also, my first-generation Irish-American grandmother, Eleanor Brennan Plummer, was a talented poet and journalist.
Speaking of my Irish grandmother, she was part of the inspiration behind my first novel, Spirited Away - A Novel of the Stolen Irish, which paints an intimate portrait of 1650s Irish slavery in the Caribbean. My hope is that the book opens readers' eyes about this forgotten chapter in history. I dedicated the novel to everyone working to combat modern-day human trafficking. Spirited Away has 272 reviews on Amazon.
Daring Passage: Book Two of the Spirited Away Saga, my second novel, tells the rest of Freddy O'Brennan's tale. I can't say much about it, because that would spoil your reading of both Spirited Away Saga books. Delighted readers call Daring Passage "a stunning sequel."
I have also penned a non-fiction book entitled Passing It On: Voices from the Flathead Indian Reservation, which was published in 2008.
Thank you for reading, and for leaving honest reviews.
Enjoy!
