Information
I was adopted at the age of 8 months by an American/Canadian family and grew up in the Southern part of the US. From a young age, I wanted to be a writer and majored in English Creative Writing with a minor in Fine Art. I spent part of my junior year abroad in Cortona, Italy, which was the turning point in my life. After graduation, I got a job as an English teacher at the University of Prague. I spent two years living and teaching in Prague and a further and a half years living and teaching English in Tokyo, Japan. I moved to England to marry my British boyfriend (who I had met in Prague) and settled into a life as an American expat in Britain. After completing my MA in Design Studies, I worked at a design company but got made redundant when I was pregnant with my 2nd child. So I started up my own design company and it has gone from strength to strength. Throughout all this, I still had a hankering for writing and realised I was having all these incredible experiences as a mother to British children. I wasn't raising Americans, I was raising Brits! So I started to write my book, Bringing Up Brits, which was published on July 4th, 2011. I am currently working on my second book which is about expat entrepreneurs.
