Background
Information
My background is in juvenile justice and dangerous religious cults. I have a well loved book on the history of the Hare Krishna organization. It was not the worst cult in the world, but is definitely one of the most intriguing. In more recent years I have developed a collection of inspirational, self-help, and recovery books that focus on Eastern spirituality.
My education is in sociology and humanist counseling psychology. I believe in the public school system and am grateful for my degrees from College of the Redwoods, UCSB, and Western Oregon University. Growing up in Los Angeles, I attended Roscomare Road School and Van Nuys Junior High; in Phoenix I graduated from Camelback High.
Books and stories I have loved all my life, or discovered in college, include:
Don't Push the River, by Barry Stevens; Play Therapy, by Virginia Axline; Psycho-cybernetics, by Dr. Maxwell Maltz; Psycho-pictography, by Vernon Howard; Celestine Prophecy, by James Redfield; Star Trek, Waiting for Godot, by Samuel Beckett; Confessions of St. Augustine; the Cry for Myth, by Rollo May; The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald; any book by Earnest Holmes, any book by Mark Twain, any book by Joseph Campbell, the Bible, Bhagavad-gita, A Course In Miracles, and the iChing.
