It’s like waking up from a grand dream, one that you wished and thought to be true. Maybe it is true? Maybe it’s not. Nothing’s the way it used to be. That bottom stair that you expected to be there isn’t. It’s difficult to get your balance. Your life becomes a fight to believe what is really true.
The effects of sexual abuse are many. I know this firsthand. As if I got knocked over the head, I began frantically listing as many memories as I could as I sat in my bed late one night. When I finished, I shot straight up, let my jaw drop wide open, and said aloud, “God wants me to write a book.” Eight months later, here we are.
I never expected to be a published author not even one year into my engineering career, but that’s the point. God’s plans for us are often unpredictable. So I write for two reasons. First, God has made it clear that He wants me to. Second, I have a deep desire to help women like me, women who have endured significant hardships and question what it means to be a real woman in today’s world.
