I am a writer and teacher.  My novels: Lament of Mohini (Penguin, 2000), was Longlisted for the Crossword Prize. Maria's Room (Harper Collins, 2010) was Longlisted for the Man Asian Prize. My plays include the award-winning Dark Lord and Bow of Rama, and Platform, Midnight Hotel and Nathu's Dream. My articles, reviews, poems and short stories have been published internationally in magazines and  anthologies. For children: The Royal Rebel (Macmillan, 1997) and  Devil's Garden (Puffin, July 2006). The Magic Store of Nu-Cham-Vu (Puffin, August 2009) was shortlisted for the Vodaphone Crossword Prize. It is also available as a digital "talking" book for the blind and dyslexic.  I'm a columnist, and I teach Creative English to Maths students. As a writer I shuttle between forms. I love music, though silence is best when I write.
