I have been writing prose and verse for well over 40 years, but it was only in the late 1990s that I finally mastered the craft of storytelling. Oh, my 17 years as an editorial assistant/proofreader had much to do with helping me to master the mechanics, and to develop a good inner ear, and while I kept rewriting and reworking stories in all of that time, I believe a combination of reading the classics, reading modern authors, and repeatedly watching successful movies was what got me to finally succeed as a storyteller. My novel "Scorpion" published in 2000 by Trafford was truly the first good story I wrote, while I do believe that I have succeeded in adapting my other efforts, so that what you find under my name, James R. Poyner, on Amazon will be good reads. The only exception would be "Towers to the Sky", published in the mid-1980s. The newer and much improved version of that is "Towers", while it is a good promoter of my philosophy on acceptance.
