Florida Ann Town has worn many hats in the writing field. She was the first female sports writer at the Vancouver Daily Sun (a venture worth a book in itself), became a reporter, a columnist, and a feature writer. She moved to radio, working at various times at stations CKEK, CTFK, CJOR and CKWX, as a broadcaster, news writer and continuity writer. Then she entered the field of media and public relations, working with Canada Post, and finally, at Simon Fraser University which, she says, was the "best job in the world because you could talk to the people on the cutting edge of research and have them explain, in simple words, exactly what they were doing and what they hoped to achieve."                                                                                                                      She has written a number of books, including Alexander Graham Bell, With A Silent Companion, The North West Company, The Copper Trail, Before The Road Came and The Lively Ghost of Howe Sound. Her newest book, On The Rim, will be released in October. Florida is currently working on an as-yet-unnamed novel, dealing with inter-cultural relationships.                                                                                                     When she isn't working on her computer, she's probably either riding her bike, training for an outrigger canoe race, or preparing for a master swim meet.
