Over 30 years in education in public, private and public schools; in public, private and online universities; and as a consultant to school and nonprofit boards of directors.  After watching so many assaults on public education by politicians and pundits that have no clue about what it means to educate a child, my interest is to begin writing about my experiences and using my expertise to help parents and professionals make sense of schools. As an "A+ School" evaluator, it's amazing how much more students know and learn; and how committed teachers and staff are to using all available tools to reach all kids.  We need to broadcast and celebrate their accomplishments, rather than continually berate them for things over which they have no control.  A worn-out statement is still true -- our children are our future.  What we do as parents and educators makes a major difference in how well our children learn and focus on their goals, and use theirskills for the betterment of communities and themselves.   I grew up in a rural community that highly valued education.....and out of my class of 15, 8 of us have advanced degrees, and have become teachers, counselors, principals, professors, and corporate vice presidents.  That's because we all learned the value of education in making our way in the world; and, in some small measure, my books are meant to show parents how that happens when a whole village nurtures their children and values education.
