For the first twenty years of my adult life, I was a sales executive in the power generation world and then in the telecommunications industry. After the success I experienced there, I wanted to give back to the community, so I became a teacher. For the next nine years, I taught first and second grades and was a Reading Specialist and Gifted and Talented Specialist for fifth and sixth grades as well. All was going well until I moved to Oregon to join my husband whose job transfered him there. Within a short time of arriving, I was involved in an accident which resulted in my neck and back being broken. Five surgeries and lots of hardware later, I found myself in a deep depression two years later. The pain was so overwhelming that I couldn't see anything hopeful in my future. My husband, who is also my best friend, did his best to encourage and comfort me and it was his suggestion that I start writing that got me writing my first children's book, Gingerly. (Now a four book series and growing). I've only been writing since October 2012, but now have over fifty (50) children's picture and chapter books on the market.One is a series of eight picture books teaching kids about the steps of the writing process (Writing is a Process). There are four books in the Gingerly series. The rest of the books are concept books on various topics ranging from classroom and home behavior, Alzheimer's (Grandpa Doesn't Know Me Anymore), friendships,and  responsibility all the way to immigration in America (How Can Aliens Be Illegal?).  I have found that through my writing, I can still accomplish the thing that I loved doing before: affecting positive behavior and change in young minds. I am still in pain because of my back and neck, but wouldn't change a thing about my life. After all, I wouldn't be a published author if the accident had never happened.
