I am a survivor, over and over again. I survived my childhood, but my sister did not. She committed suicide, and I had to learn to overcome the guilt of not helping her, not knowing how to help her, and admitting that she was the one who had the strength and courage to help me get out of our home and live my life. If I did not get out, I would have ended up like her.
I just finished my memoir about our lives and her story, and how she helped save my life. I did not need to tell the story for me, but for her, in the honor of her life and memory.
