As owner and lead engineer at Alaska Shelters, Inc. in the early 1980’s, Roger was a pioneer in tent camp design and construction in the Alaska oilfields.  An industrial accident in 1985 permanently injured his lower back and ended his ability to further engage in physical labor which led to years of searching for the meaning of life. Roger has enjoyed continuous sobriety since June of 1986 and has been active in the recovery community from Alaska to Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado Denver where he earned his B. S. in Communication and Psychology in 2008 and went on to earn his M.S. in communication from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas in 2010.  Roger teaches communication theory at the university level,holds certificates in counseling, conflict resolution and mediation and writes and lectures on a wide variety of topics in the alcohol and drug recovery community.
