I've been published for personal essays, articles, fictional novels, literary fiction, female fiction (chick lit) and now crime and pyschological thrillers. I wrote my first novel in 3 months while I was pregnant with my daughter and going through a divorce. Something about the hormones and the dramatic shift in my own life, made the words pour out of me.  While I've grown a lot as a writer since my first book, I am still intrigued by the time before and after a woman gives birth. It's always woven into my work, whether its an essay or a thriller.  My latest work plays upon parental devotion, taken to a dark extreme. It also explores a national dilemna. Many women are finally earning the same and "leaning in" to their careers. What this often means is ladies are deciding to have children in their 30's, 40's and beyond. The struggle to concieve is torturous. I had fun playing around with that in Bad Mary, my latest thriller.  I remember wanting a child so badly.  Bitterness  and longing would course through my veins when I would see a mom clad in an Ergo, her babies' teeth shining like tiny pearls in a wet, red mouth. I tried to capture that visceral want with Simone, the book's protaganist.
