A graduate of Columbia University, Saryta Rodriguez has a half-decade of publishing experience, having worked at Penguin Putnam and the David Black Literary Agency. At the David Black Literary Agency, working closely with its agents, Saryta has edited, evaluated and developed proposals and manuscripts in the subject categories of memoir, lifestyle, self-help, science, cookbooks, history, business, fiction and children’s books. She also worked with the subsidiary rights director, vetting foreign contracts, audio and e-book deals. Saryta worked for Penguin Publishing in a similar capacity in 2012, completing the same editorial tasks with some additional administrative responsibilities, prior to relocating from New York City to Phoenix, Arizona. Before embarking on her career in publishing, Saryta was an AmeriCorps member at P.S. 57 in East Harlem, New York, where she developed and oversaw several after-school programs and schoolwide events, as well as provided literacy tutoring to students in grades K-5. Saryta is also a writer, an animal liberationist, and an amateur hiker. She currently resides in Oakland, California.
