I am a South London based Writer/Director whose real writing journey began by writing comedy sketches for Youth Project Phenomenon ’98 featuring comedians Gina Yashere and Richard Blackwood. I have always been a keen writer and penned my first book All The Happy Animals and Lucille and her Great Adventure at just 8 years old. Daniella Blechner is the author of Mr Wrong, “an insightful and witty exploration into why some women repeatedly encounter Mr Wrong and toxic relationships” and the poetry anthology 7 Shades of Love.             Before I plucked up the courage to publish my first book in 2014, I studied at Ravensbourne College and forged a short career in film and TV. In 2004 I shot my first short film Connexions which was nominated for Best Screenplay in The Black Filmaker’s Festival and her short Hair We Are (2007) featured in Chicago Children’s Film Festival, Images of Black Women Festival, BAM Kids, NY and The Pan African Film Festival. In 2010, her 30min drama screenplay was shortlisted for Channel 4 scheme Coming Up. The enjoyment and inspiration behind writing comes from examining and reflecting on social issues often laced with a wicked sense of humour. I have been writing for as long as she can remember; at the age of four, I declared that I would publish a book and set up my own publishing company.  I am now the founder of Conscious Dreams Publishing and looking for inspiring authors. I’m passionate about empowering others through the sharing of our stories and unleashing our True Inner Voice.

My biggest achievement is that I have climbed Mount Kilamanjaro and got to the top!

Whilst voluntary teaching in Tanzania, I set up a debating society that spread across villages and towns and still continues today.

I was recently voted as a nominee for a BEFFTA Award in Best Author category

My first short Connexions was Nominated for Best Screenplay at the BFM Short Film Awards in 2006 and won “Best Open Deck film” when screened at the Cutting East Festival.

In 2007 I won a Film Fund Award from Lewisham Film Initiative to complete her poetry based short drama Hair We Are for the Black History Month Short Film Challenge. Hair We Are won the 3rd Best Film at the Images of Black Women Film Festival and has been screened at Chicago International Children’s film, Pan African Film Festival, LA and BAMKids Film Festival in New York. It was also screened on The Community Channel and www.itvlocal.com. Since writing and directing the film, the poem has been included in Shangwe’s Hair Power, Skin Revolution anthology and she has enjoyed performing her poem at literary events.

I have been shortlisted for Channel 4’s Coming Up Scheme 2010 as a writer.

I also produced an anti-bullying drama, The Turtle and The Nightingale with American based director Gershon Hinkson. The film has enjoyed success in UK and America and in February 2012 aired on HBO.

I am the proud author of Mr Wrong, “a humorous and insightful exploration into why some women continually attract Mr Wrong.” It is a collection of empowering relationship stories written by both women and men across the world that allow the reader to question, explore and challenge negative belief systems and set out on a positive path of self-discovery and self-worth. This became a Best Seller in 3 categories including Love and Relationship category on Amazon (#14) on day of publish.


I have also written and compiled poetry anthology 7 Shades of Love, a collection of poems written by women and men globally and feel honoured to be able to showcase work from a multitude of poets from different, ages, races, religions and backgrounds on the Universal subject of Love.

I have achieved many things in life, but behind every achievement is a team of supportive people and a drive to do better and be better.
