My influences come from a few authors. One of my favourite books growing up was The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. He took a break from his usual genres to write an excellent children’s fantasy novel. I loved it and read it many times. I was also a fan of the Roald Dalh and I must have read every one of his books twenty times over when I was a child. I loved the BFG. I spent years writing short stories without any desire to see them published. It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s and had a family of my own that I felt I would like to write something for them to read as they got older. My wife read the introduction to a story I had written a few years earlier that was entitled ‘Campbell’s Cove’. She liked the idea and I decided to finish the story. Campbell’s Cove became The Viking’s Apprentice and the rest, as they say, is history. The series now has three books with the fourth being written at the moment. The Viking’s Apprentice, The Master’s Revenge and Journey to the Other Side have all achieved genre number 1 on Amazon in the US and UK.
