I hail from a very politically historic family in Tennessee so I have always grew up with an awareness, understanding, and also a desire to know "the real" stories of my family heritage and ancestry. Simply being around the political world incorporates a self-desire to learn more, but also creates an appreciation of the past. Being drug around the campaign trails growing up I got to hear so many stories.....stories from others, but also stories of my family as well. I listened a lot....and remembered! Some tell me I must have a photographic memory for I can recall in detail places, people, events and such. It wasnt until my "genealogy" phase kicked in during the mid-1980's (when computers were first coming onto the scene) that I began to incorporate writing and telling stories of my family ancestry and political history. During all the research and uncovering the facts, my stories grew to simply following the trials and tribulations of a family coming to America in 1652 and then its migration to Tennessee in 1818 and where I would call home my entire life. I realized if one never writes "the stories", then history will eventually die for we cant always verbally pass on such and the media world is only as reliable as the electricity that powers it. Books and paper can live forever! So recently I began writing stories for the Benton County Genealogical Society that publishes a quarterly booklet. Im still in the phase of telling the family stories, but will eventually venture out to history in general. The Civil War and lately, Revolutionary War have become topics of my focus. I have always loved following the history of those wars, but in my ancestrial research as well as attending many of the 150th anniversaries of Civil War Battles, I can see myself venturing into writing their impact on my family and hometown. My ancestrial research has me connected to Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest (1st cousin, 3x's removed) and Col William Prescott of The Battle of Bunker/Breed's Hill's. Of course, political history will always be ever-present in the back of my thoughts! However, the one gem that has really created the writing interest in me is a story of The Camden Vols (Semi-Pro Baseball) 1930 & 1931 Team! A never ending research project, it has taken me to a time I never knew and the excitement a community can have in supporting as well as bonding a successful baseball team! I hail from Camden Tennessee and have lived in and around Nashville while I have obtained my college education and professional skills. In my spare time, I serve in the Tennessee National Guard and have been deployed over 40+ months to combat zones in my career. My civilian job is as an Accountant/International Analyst for a Fortune 25 company in Nashville.
