Background Information

It took for a certain JK Rowling to burst on to the seen before my attention turned to books. Before then, I read, periodically, at school, when I had to. But I didn't enjoy it. That all changed when I found myself, lost in Hogwarts, running the corridors with a certain Harry Potter. Coincidently, I actually live a stones throw from the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour, at Leavesden Studios, where the films were made. So not much has changed on that score. It was several years later, however, that I found a passion for writing. I was reasonably good at it, at school. I think because I was now in to reading, it was easy to relate to story. But it was never my thing. I always wanted to be a sportsman and when I got in to St. Mary's University, a prestigious sporting university in England, I was dead chuffed and so was my dad! But it didn't last long. Something didn't feel right, something was missing. It took for a sabbatical of sorts, except for the no money part, for me to realise what I wanted to do. I was staying at my mums. By this point she had moved to Spain, with her partner. I was there for several months and one night I just mysteriously woke, at 3am and I just new what I wanted to be. An author. I preceded to wake up a disgruntled mother, to tell her the good news. Things spiralled from there. I have a love for history, particularly the middle ages and that's where I set my books. The story for my first novel was inspired by a Moorish castle I discovered whilst staying in Spain. It sits delicately atop a mountain in the centre of a valley. If you ever get a chance to visit Guadalest I highly recommend it. So there you have it. I'm a medieval geek and my books contain lots of violence, sex and debauchery, oh and of course, castles.
